What is floating?
~
Floating is the ultimate form of the Silent Spa and translates to "floating." Floating is a deeply relaxing bath in nearly saturated saltwater. Due to the high salt concentration of the water, there's so much buoyancy that your body effortlessly floats on the water's surface. Our four modern and comfortable floating tanks maintain the 25 cm deep solution at a temperature between 34.8 and 35.2°C, which matches the skin's external temperature.
By deliberately excluding all auditory and visual disturbances, your brain waves shift into the so-called theta range, which is typically only achieved through deep sleep or disciplined meditation. In this manner, you achieve deep physical and mental relaxation, enhancing your concentration abilities and facilitating cognitive access to your emotional state. This state of weightless relaxation can only be attained through floating.
Additionally, we combine the benefits of floating with specialized therapies.

Technology & Hygiene
~
The floating tanks are filled before each guest and emptied afterward, ensuring that each tank is used a maximum of 4 times per day. The strong salt solution is disinfected with chlorine and is filtered using a high-quality carbon filter, as well as a quartz sand filter. The latter is regularly backwashed with fresh water, and the tanks themselves are rinsed after each floating session and manually cleaned with medical alcohol.
Our floating facilities and the four floating tanks were designed in collaboration with the MA36 Vienna and comply with the Austrian Bath Hygiene Regulation, surpassing the technical requirements of common spas and thermal baths. Additionally, the quality of the salt solution is independently tested four times a year by expert assessment firms to ensure completely germ-free and hygienically impeccable salt solution.

When should I not float? To float, you must be able to use a slippery bathtub on your own. If you are very overweight, frail, paralyzed, etc., we advise against floating. The general rule is: if you can visit a spa or thermal bath without any problems, then floating should be just as well tolerated. Although the Epsom salt solution is bacteriostatic and germ-inhibiting, you should not float if you have a cold or are suffering from an infectious disease, such as flu, gastrointestinal complaints or athlete's foot. Patients with skin injuries such as abrasions, cuts, burns, skin diseases or open wounds should also wait for them to heal before floating. People with untreated epilepsy, patients with heart muscle disease, low blood pressure and a tendency to thrombosis, and people undergoing psychiatric treatment should also not float. The latter should discuss floating with their doctor.
-
Is there anything I should do to prepare?Do not drink coffee for several hours beforehand (it can make you nervous). It is advised to avoid floating under the influence of alcohol or other substances. On the day of the float, refrain from wet shaving or epilation, as the salt solution could lead to uncomfortable burning and skin irritations.
-
Can I float if I'm pregnant?Yes. However, you should consult your doctor beforehand. From our experience, floating is highly recommended for pregnant women: the weightlessness in the warm saltwater relieves the back and pelvic muscles. Additionally, the magnesium from the saline solution is absorbed through the skin into the muscles, providing long-lasting protection against pregnancy-related cramps. The experienced relaxation and tranquility can offer a particularly clear perception of the unborn child. If you are in your third trimester or have any concerns, please consult your doctor before arrival.
-
Can I float while menstruating?Yes. Just follow the same protocol as you would for a swimming pool.
-
Can I float if I've just dyed my hair? There's no guarantee that the salt won't alter the fresh hair color. To be sure, we recommend checking if the water running through your hair in your home shower is completely clear. If there's still some color coming out, you should wait a few more days.
-
Do I need to bring anything? Please bring a bath towel and slippers. If you have long hair, you might want to bring a comb. Also, something to store your contact lenses. Otherwise, we provide everything you need (hairdryer, earplugs). You enter the tank naked, so you don't need to bring a swimsuit.
-
How long and how often is floating recommended? The ideal duration is about 50 minutes, but longer sessions are also not a problem. Since floating is very well-tolerated, it's possible to float multiple times per week.
